On 19.12.21 night a sensational burglery took place at ' Karunamoyee Kali Mandir' which is believed to be more than 400 years old under Amdanga PS. Ornaments of Gold & Silver amounting around 50 lakhs were taken away by the miscreants. Taking up the investigation Barasat District Police got CCTV footage showing some unknown miscreants committing the crime. Analysing the modus operandi, appearances of the miscreants, source information and technical inputs Barasat District Police detected the case and learnt that one 'Banzara Group' (Nomad Group) have committed the crime. Holding several raids Barasat District Police arrested six accused persons from Garbetha under Paschim Medinipur, Raipur and Hirbandh under Bankura district and from Keonjhar of Odisha. The entire gang has been busted and entire stolen article has been recovered.
Gobardanga Police Station held raid and arrested one person and seized from her possession two illegal firearms and six live ammunition. In course of further investigation, one illegal firearms and two rounds live ammunition were seized.
Barasat Police Station detained a vehicle carrying contraband articles. The said vehicle was carrying 86 kg of Ganja packed in three plywood boxes hidden below the container of fish.
An amount of Rs. 48 lakhs (approx.) were cheated. In course of investigation, Ashoknagar PS arrested eight persons and recovered Rs. 12 lakhs (approx.) Investigation of the case is proceeding.
